I received my first academic degree at the University of Cologne in 2002 (Magister Artium, M.A.) in Anglo-American History, Modern German History and English Literature and Linguistics. Further fields of interest where Romance studies (French) and Comparative Philology. My specialty is with 17th century British history, 19th century history of the United States and modern fantasy literature.
I am working on my dissertation about Tolkien fandom in the United States (1955-1992.)
I am a member of the Board of Editors of the academic yearbook Hither Shore and publish regularly in publications relevant to modern fantasy literature.
